The annual “Monitoring Report – Digital Germany - An International Comparison of the ICT Industry in 2009” will contribute to this. The first edition of this study was published by TNS Business Intelligence on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology on the occasion of the Fourth National IT Summit, a high-profile summit of the German ICT industry and political institutions, in December 2009

This global benchmark report compares the performance of Germany's information and communication industry with 14 top ICT locations using the latest development figures in 21 key performance indicator areas. In the course of two workshops, the results of the global benchmark were analysed and supplemented by experts from the Executive Board and management of leading companies in the ITC industry. Leading foreign experts were also asked for their assessments within the framework of a direct comparison between Germany and the world leader, the USA, and between Germany and the aspiring ICT location China.
